General Terms and Conditions
Please read carefully.  By registering you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.  Players are expected to act in the spirit of good sportsmanship and in accordance with the U.S. Backgammon Federation Tournament Rules.  The Atlanta Classic Backgammon Championship is a privately run tournament and reserves the right to refuse entry and to refuse access to the premises with no reason required.  All fees paid onsite must be in cash, US currency only.  Eligibility for all events is subject to approval, entrants will not be allowed to play below their playing level.  Please bring your own digital clock, backgammon board, and other equipment, if possible.

Please read the U.S. Backgammon Federation official rules prior to the tournament.

Tournament Rules
Rules Options Employed at this Tournament
​The following are the Rules Options that the Atlanta Classic Backgammon Championship has chosen. View the entire set of rules here  
  • All events are legal moves: Any illegal play must be corrected if noticed by either player.
  • Dice landing on a checker is legal: Dice that land on top of checkers are generally valid rolls.
  • Use of Clocks: Clock settings and options are generally defined in each event. “Clock required” stipulates that a clock must be used. “Clock preferred” stipulates that a clock will be used if either player requests it and provides their own clock. “Clock if agreed” stipulates that a clock may be used if both players agree. Unless otherwise specified, clock time settings are 2 minutes per point reserve time with a 12 second delay.   
  • Baffle boxes: Players may use a baffle box, but may not impose their use on another player.  
  • Use of cups with a baffle box: This is optional, players decide their preferred method. Using your hand or a cup to put the dice in the top of the baffle box are both legal.
  • Use two dice over four dice: All players are obligated to share two dice. If not using a clock, tapping the center bar indicates the end of the turn.
  • Pictures are always allowed: Players are allowed to take pictures of their match, even when not using a clock. Players should declare their final decision before taking a picture. Additionally, players shall not use photographic aids like GammonSnap.
If any questions arise during a match, stop play, pause the clock and call the director. 
Streaming and Promotion

The Atlanta Classic Backgammon Championship reserves the right to stream and/or record any match.  By registering, you consent to appear in promotional materials or video. 

Individual Player Recording and Streaming
Using your own unobtrusive equipment, you may stream and/or record your own backgammon matches.  This privilege may be revoked if it creates undue noise or interferes with the smooth running of the tournament.  The recording or streaming of matches other than your own assigned match, requires preapproval from the tournament director. 

Promoting Products and/or Services
Promoting or selling products or services is not allowed without prior approval from the tournament director.


​​Clock Settings
  • Open division: 2 minutes per point with a 12 second delay.
  • Advanced division: 2 minutes per point with a 15 second delay.
  • Doubles: 3 minutes per point with a 15 second delay.
  • Speedgammon: 24 seconds per point with 10 second delay


Main Event Side Pool Hierarchy

Side pool will be paid to the top two finishers in the following order: 1st Main, 2nd Main, 1st Consolation, 2nd Consolation, 1st Last Chance. If less than two of them are in the side pool then it goes to the furthest finisher(s) in the last chance.
